SHOW HER THE MONEY / by Yori Yanover
Last time we cited from Vicki Polin’s email list, she took out Larry Yudelson’s subscription. I wonder who’s going to get her “Sorry to see you leave” note this time…
Our hapless heroine has sent out a new call to action, this one having to do with the bottom line. Facing a serious low in funds coming in (no institution in its right mind would finance an admitted Satanist, and she’s fresh out of friends who would lend her their credit card), VP is wondering whether those of us enjoying her daily alerts would pay for the privilege:
Dear Friends,
As you may be aware The Awareness Center is undergoing a great deal of changes to help us deal with the demands. To make these changes we need increase our funding base.
One possible solution to help us grow is to start charging everyone who receives one of our daily newsletters a fee.
I am asking that everyone who reads this newsletter to let me know if they would still be interested in receiving this daily mailing if we would start asking you to pay $18.00 a year to be on our newsletter mailing list would you still be interested in being a subscriber? Please respond by sending me a note.
Sincerely,
Vicki Polin
Now, if VP had stuck to her declared mission, exposing rabbis, cantors and other important Jews with their pants down, her aspiration of getting paid for it would have been justified, at least on its face (she would have to hire a line editor, though, some of her writing is truly first draft grade). But the copy & paste job VP is doing has very little to do with Jews. Her emails are nothing more than Google results for a list of key words like “abuse” “molestation,” etc., which any one of you could set up for free. Take her most recent package of pirated stories (arrived this morning, still steaming):
1. Predator-free areas sought
2. Who are sex offenders?
3. Child porn raids in 13 countries
4. Care home survivors' £2m lifeline
5. Print checking common for jobs
6. More charges lodged in child sex abuse scandal
7. Miami Effectively Bans Molesters From Area
8. Polygamous Sect Leader Charged in Arizona
All eight stories offer not a single Jewish angle. They’re merely newsporn, sent out for the titillation of VP’s readers, serving no discernable public good in the Jewish community.
I suspect that Vicki’s desperate pleas for funds are yet another expression of her misbegotten self-aggrandizement. For an email service to expect $18 a year per customer it really has to offer proprietary material, essential to the reader’s menu of information. No one is going to pay a non-tax-deductible fee for a service with no value added to speak of.
So, in the end, we may yet see Ms. Polin re-entering the job market, at least to supplement her Social Security disability payments. Bon chance!
Incidentally, as punishment for the above story, expect a new “call to action” generated by Ms. Polin, featuring any number of my personal friends. And so it goes…
